(LA Parent, by Carolyn Richardson) – Eh-Oh! Teletubbies TV series is back on the air! The preschool show that features characters with screens on their bellies and antennas sprouting from their heads has returned on Nick. Jr. The reboot features the same main characters –Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po and their companion Noo-Noo – as the original, but will add some updates including Touch Screen Tummies, the Tubby Phone, The Dup Dup (which replaces the dome’s slide) and the Tubby Custard Ride.

British actors Jim Broadbent (“Harry Potter,” “Bridget Jones’ Diary”), Jane Horrocks (“Absolutely Fabulous,” “Little Voice”), Daniel Rigby (“Eric and Ernie”), Fearne Cotton (“Radio 1,” “Celebrity Juice”) and Antonia Thomas (“Misfits,” “Sunshine on Leith”) share duties in voicing the series.

The launch event June 11 at The Vortex Dome at Los Angeles Center Studios in Downtown transformed the venue into Teletubbyland, featuring the grassy landscape seen in the show’s opening credits. The screening room was set as the Tubbytronic SuperDome; there was a rabbit petting zoo provided by Reptacular Animals and face painting and balloon sculpting by the The Balloon Guy. The kids had their own floor seating for the screening, with comfy pillows offering 360-degree views of the premiere episode “Making Friends / Watering Can,” which includes a puddle dance, a magic watering can that makes flowers grow and a friendship circle made of handprints. Dancing With the Stars champion and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum Antonio Ribeiro was in attendance with his wife, Angela, and two youngest kids, A.J. and Anders.
